This house
is a truly remarkable find, set in a small hamlet amid forests and
prairies with superb views. As this is a family second home, the
quality of décor, equipment and furnishings is far higher than many
holiday gites.
The accommodation comprises three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms,
lounge, dining area, dining kitchen and games room. There are
extensive garden areas for relaxing and outdoor eating |
| If you
want the beach and nightlife then forget it! The only disturbing
noises come from owls at night. However if you enjoy walking,
cycling (on or off road) or even winter sports, particularly away
from crowds, then this is the place to come. Likewise if you prefer
to chill out, read or listen to music in the peace and quiet, then
you will not be disturbed. |

Towns
and cities close by include Ambert with a great weekly market (25
minutes), Thiers the cutlery capital of France (45 minutes) Clermont
Ferrand (50 mins) and Vichy (70 minutes). The nearest village with a
boulangerie and restaurant is about 5 minutes drive. |

The views
of the forests and mountains of the Livradois Forez are enchanting.
There is some lovely wildlife to be seen including deer, red
squirrels and wild boar. There are always birds of prey overhead
calling to one another. The Gîte is in the Forez mountains at
approximately700 metres above sea level. Climate can be quite
variable (this is not the Riviera!) but the main experience has been
hot sunny days and slightly cooler (insect free) evenings in the
summer. During hot weather thunderstorms (sometimes spectacular)
aren't uncommon but are usually short-lived. In winter, temperatures
are often below freezing and there is reliable snow for
cross-country skiing about 10 miles away. There are also some
downhill pistes about 15 miles away. |

Getting
